Soft barrels are the most important component of any soft‑tip dart. They influence grip, stability, flight trajectory and the overall feel of the throw. Our selection includes barrels of all shapes, weights and surface finishes from leading global manufacturers.
Thanks to conversion points, soft barrels can be used not only for electronic dartboards but also as steel‑tip darts. Simply replace the plastic soft tip with a metal conversion point using the same 2BA thread.
Types of Soft Barrel Shapes
Straight barrels
- universal shape
- suitable for most players
- allows flexible grip positions
- stable flight and excellent control
Torpedo / Tapered barrels
- wider centre with a narrower front or rear
- ideal for players who prefer a strong reference point
- faster release and more dynamic flight
Front‑weighted / Rear‑weighted
- front‑weighted – faster swing, ideal for short‑grip players
- rear‑weighted – more stable release, ideal for players gripping the dart at the back
Soft Barrel Materials
Tungsten (80–95%)
- high durability
- slimmer profile at the same weight
- professional choice
Brass
- wider body
- suitable for beginners
- affordable option
Grip Types and Surface Finishes
Available grip styles:
- ring grip
- micro grip
- shark grip
- pixel / atom / hybrid grip
- combined grips
Surface finishes:
- classic tungsten
- black coatings (black titanium, black PVD)
- coloured anodising
- laser engraving
Each grip type provides a different feel and affects control over the dart.
Soft Barrel Weights
Most common barrel weights:
- 14 g – 20 g (barrel weight)
- total dart weight is usually 1–2 g higher depending on tip and shaft
The category includes all available weights so every player can choose the ideal setup.
Using Soft Barrels as Steel‑Tip Darts
Soft barrels can easily be converted into steel‑tip darts using:
- conversion points
- standard 2BA thread (same as soft tips)
- simply replace the plastic tip with a metal one
This allows you to use the same set of barrels for soft and steel, perfect for players who switch between both dartboard types.
Who Are Soft Barrels Ideal For?
For players who want to:
- build their own custom dart setup
- test different shapes and grip styles
- improve stability and accuracy
- upgrade to professional tungsten models
- use the same barrels for both soft and steel (with conversion points)
Soft barrels are an excellent choice for anyone looking to take their game to the next level.
